Skimmer Catamarans

I designed her in 1980 long before plumb bows returned to popularity from the late 1800's. We spent four years perfecting the plug for the mold. This boat has what I call "Beyond Constant Camber." It allows us to make hulls of different lengths all from one mold, anything from 30-45ft. Originally she was designed to sail in the OSTAR and with a lowered shear she could sail as a Formula Forty. As designed, the 40 footer displaces 10,278 lbs. This is light weight when compared to the charter trade. Each 40' hull has a length:beam ratio of 14:1. The 45' is 16:1. The hull can also be modified. A wedge can be placed down the middle by bolting the bows together and spreading the transom 12 inches. This results in a displacement of 12,761lbs, and she still only draws 16 inches.
